In 1859 Charles Darwin published “the Origin of Species.” Previous to that time, the popular thought was that all of nature, and the origin of man, was the result of divine action which action included the creation Adam and Eve, the sole parents of all of the human race. What once was nearly universally accepted, the biblical account of Adam and Eve and the presumed “self – evidence” of man’s divine creation, which was so apparent to Thomas Jefferson and which “truth” he called upon in the “Declaration of Independence” to proclaim “that all men were created equal,” and that they are “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights”; we are now told is contradicted by scientific evidence. The “self – evidence” that Thomas Jefferson spoke of is really just an illusion. Our existence, as claimed by the Darwinian evolutionary scientists, came about by an excruciatingly long processes of chance chemical reactions refined by a mindless process of natural selection. “We need no God to explain the universe and life,” some scientist boldly proclaim. Is there really only one conclusion to this argument or is there another point of view, supported by scientific data, that we are not being told about? In this presentation, Vincent Newmeyer will sort out some of the tenants of public school science class as they relate to Darwinian evolution and discriminant between fact and the faith that pervades our public school science classrooms. We believe that you will find reason to likewise powerfully conclude that it is “self – eviden[t],” as confirmed by nature all around us, that “that all men [are] created equal.”
